This Highland Lake home is best classified as a timber-frame hybrid. The concept is being able to add timber-frame aspects to the house without having to spend the money for a complete timber-frame. Unlike most timber-frame houses that require sip's panels for insulation and sheathing that have joints in them that are susceptible to air leakage and cold, we overbuild on top of the timber-frame and then spray foam the overbuild so that there are no gaps and leakage. This overbuilding process can be seen below. This insulation system overcomes the problems that arise when using sip's panels.
